A Welcome to You
from
Pastor Peter St. Don
Historians have estimated that a normal lifetime for a great nation has
been about two hundred years. The cycle or pattern runs something like
this: From bondage to spiritual faith, from faith to courage, from
courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to
selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to
apathy, from apathy to dependency, and from dependency back again into
bondage.
This cycle may seem pessimistic but given the circumstances this nation
is now in there seems to be enough truth in the reality that nations do
rise and fall and that prosperity does seem to carry within it the seeds
of selfishness and complacency, to take note. Perhaps it is time to ask
ourselves, “What about my generation? What kind of spiritual condition
am I in? What of America?” And then, on a very personal level, “What am
I doing and to whom am I turning to stem the tide?”
At Harbour Community Church we understand that a healthy faith in God
will calm our souls, quiet our fears, and keep us strong and courageous.
Faith in God will assist us in facing even the grimmest of times with
hope and confidence. Yes, we know that a confident faith will do all
this and much more. But only if we take hold of faith and cooperate with
God. This kind of Christian faith is not a magic formula that protects
us from all harm.
A mature and healthy
Christian faith is one that enables us to rise above our struggles
knowing that God is with us; and with God – all things are possible.
If you are looking for a small and healthy congregation that will
welcome you as we worship and strive to grow together – perhaps you
might just want to drop by and join us at a Sunday evening service. Who
knows, you might find yourself coming back again. If so, we shall be
most delighted.

Contentment is a buried treasure, often seemingly just beyond our
grasp. "If I could just have...Look like...earn more...then I'd be
happy."
But
17th century physicist/philosopher
Blaise Pascal spoke of "a
God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man" which can't be filled by
more things - but "only by God".
At Harbour
Community Church, we're fellow searchers who are uncovering the
buried treasure in God's word, great friends, and discovering the purpose and peace that
gives life meaning.
Please join us this weekend.
We will be delighted to see you!
